When I was told to create a vertical story that would capture a certain community, I knew exactly who I would be reaching out to. Here’s the thing, women with small children are their own unique person, but many of us spend a few years finding their entire identity in ‘Mom’. While I don’t encourage this, I don’t discourage it either. While I’m my own person, I know that there is a small chunk of time in this life that my kids not only need me, but they want me. That feeling resonates with a lot of women my age and luckily, we have a great Mom community out there to support one another.
That brings me to my vertical video for all of my Mama’s out there that are looking for fun and entertaining things to do with their kids. Cooking is one of my favorite things, and my youngest son loves to cook whenever he’s home with me. Now, I use the word cooking lightly. He likes to dictate what I’ll do and 9/10 times, it’s make him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. But we do it together, so we have FUN!
I elected to do this as my vertical video as my social media audience tends to be Moms just like me. We are sharing funny videos and funny memes, we are checking in on each other, and we are getting creative with things to do with our kids. Specifically, I chose this for my local Mom’s group. Our community has a great group of moms that occasionally meet up, but almost always share stories in our local community page.
Because my little guy has a ton of personality, I knew making a video of him cooking would get a great response. The feedback didn’t disappoint. Many moms commented on how funny and cute he was. A few made videos with their kids that were similar, and I received a few messages saying thanks for the idea, it kept their kids occupied for a little while! Most of us moms are in this together and so if a one-minute video can give them a smile or encourage them to do something fun with their kids, then my job here is done! So, without further ado, I introduce to you….‘Cooking with Coco’!
